Find the right partners (not random swaps)

Hey Reader,

Earlier this week I called out generic list-building tools that promise fast growth.

But I also promised to show you what actually works.

And it's not some new platform or prompts that promise you the world.

Here it is...Intentional partnerships.

Not random cross-promotion.
Not generic recommendation engines.

Strategic alignments with creators who serve your audience differently than you do.

Here’s what I mean…

Let’s say you help course creators with email automation.

Look for partners who:

  • Teach course creation
  • Help with course marketing
  • Specialize in course pricing
  • Focus on course platforms

Their audiences need your expertise. Your audience needs their expertise.

Or you’re a productivity coach helping entrepreneurs create systems.

Partner with:

  • Time management tools/apps
  • Project management experts
  • Team building consultants
  • Business process designers

These audiences need your systems expertise while you can lean on their specialized knowledge.

Or maybe you sell website templates for photographers.

Look for partners who:

  • Teach photography business skills
  • Offer SEO for photographers
  • Create photography presets/editing tools
  • Help photographers with pricing/packages

Their audiences need a professional web presence, and your audience needs their specialized photography expertise.

That’s alignment.

Here’s how to do it right:

1. Find (you probably already know them) 3-5 potential partners who:

  • Serve your audience
  • Solve different problems
  • Share your values

2. Subscribe to their newsletters

  • Study their approach
  • Note their writing style
  • Understand their offers

3. Reach out with value first:

  • Share their content
  • Leave thoughtful comments
  • Build a real relationship

4. Propose a swap that benefits their audience:

  • Share your landing page results
  • Show subscriber feedback
  • Be clear about the value their audience will get

The key? Your lead magnet must solve a real problem their audience has.

Think about who serves your audience in a complementary way. That’s your perfect partner.
